Janakiammal doesn't seem to have any claim to notability beyond marrying someone famous. I suggest merging with Srinivasa Ramanujan. WLU (t) (c) Wikipedia's rules:simple/complex 23:42, 23 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

  • Support merge. I tagged the article for notability ten days ago for that reason. Glrx (talk) 00:03, 24 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the interest on the article on Janakiammal.
The basic criteria of notability of people as defined in Wikipedia reads as follows: "A person is presumed to be notable if he or she has been the subject of multiple published secondary sources which are reliable, intellectually independent of each other, and independent of the subject." Janakiammal has been the subject several secondary sources as listed in the Further reading and References sections of the article. So the article on Janakiammal may be retained as a separate article and be not merged with any other artcile. Krishnachandranvn (talk) 05:34, 24 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
Notability is not inherited. The book Ramanujan: Essays and Surveys has two chapters ostensibly focusing on Janaki, but the essence of both chapters is Janaki's relationship to Ramanujan, the second actually states she was "largely forgotten by the rest of the world". The other book appears to only mention Janaki once unless it uses a different name. If this is the sum total of sources discussing her, there's not much here. Skimming through Essays and Surveys, it seems to indicate she essentially lived a completely normal life after her husband's death, and even during life lived with him for less than three years total. The brief content of this page could easily be merged. WLU (t) (c) Wikipedia's rules:simple/complex 16:09, 24 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
