Who built the causeway?

edit

This sentence is incoherent:

Jeejebhoy's wife Avabai Jamsetjee Jeejeebhoy spent 1,55,800 rupees to finance its construction, naming it after his wife Avabai.

… but I do not have the facts needed to correct it. — crism (talk) 21:23, 2 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

There was no Camp Maidan

edit

The former name for Azad Maidan was Esplanade Maidan, which can be seen in numerous old maps and books. Who invented this Camp Maidan, which has now been repeated in modern documents! This article seems to be the culprit. It wasn't known as Bombay Gymkhana Maidan either. Ash (talk) 12:18, 30 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Charni Road and the Grazing Fee

edit

There is no record of Sir JJ buying land at Charni Road and his own charitable trust makes no mention of it to this day. There is no record of a grazing tax in Bombay in 1838. To the contrary, online records show the amount spent by the municipality to maintain the grazing land in the Esplanade in the 1860s. Feel free to contact the Sir JJ Charitable Trust for clarification. Ash (talk) 03:41, 10 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Place of Birth

edit

The infobox lists Maratha Empire as his place of birth, but wasn't Mumbai firmly under Company control by the 1782 Treaty of Salbai? -Evansknight (talk) 16:12, 21 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
