Lede

edit

The current lede reads like a personal attack. There should be balance and POV should be minimized or removed. Cmguy777 (talk) 18:30, 10 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

NPOV tag

edit

The opening graf spends a lot of its time trying to cast doubt on the historical theory that Thomas Jefferson was the father of several of Sally Hemings's children. This is not the consensus historical position: see the 3rd graf of Sally Hemings and Jefferson–Hemings controversy more generally. The opening graf and the article as a whole should be rewritten for consistency with other articles & the historical consensus. --166.177.249.83 (talk) 00:48, 17 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Strongly agree. There are numerous language problems with this article. I am restoring the NPOV tag; there does not appear to be a justification for its removal. -A-M-B-1996- (talk) 04:24, 7 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Major error!

Callender was on Jefferson’s payroll, he willingly went to prison for disparaging Adams in print. The imprisonment of journalists cost Adam the election. Your article makes it seem like Callender demanded the postmaster job, but in reality after winning the presidency Jefferson reneged on his promise to Callender, that’s why the Callender turned on Jefferson. As per William Safire’s book ‘Scandalmonger’ 2600:1700:3D56:830:97E:FB9C:4457:2A4D (talk) 02:17, 18 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
