James Reid (entertainer)James Reid (actor) – 6 Days Ago: "James Reid wins 2017 MTV Europe Music Awards' Best Southeast Asia Act". He has acted in the past but is a singer. [Correction, he still seems to be acting]. In ictu oculi (talk) 10:06, 17 November 2017 (UTC) --Relisting. GeoffreyT2000 (talk) 00:35, 25 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Comment Why not move to James Reid (actor) instead since he is more known for acting? Note that there is James Reid (musician) which is about a New Zealander lead vocalist.180.190.58.10 (talk) 11:44, 19 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
RM Template corrected to (actor) per above. You're right, I hadn't noticed, the NZ guitarist is also a singer. That has moved to James Reid (New Zealand musician) now. And as for this one, you're right, James Reid (actor) would sit better. In ictu oculi (talk) 11:33, 25 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Requested move 18 February 2022 edit

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

Result:
Not moved as proposed per consensus garnered below. Closure requested <permalink>. See fairly strong support for a different option to make the subject of the current title the primary topic, but there is opposition to that as well. No prejudice if editors want to strengthen their arguments and make a new move request to garner consensus for primary topic status. Thanks and kudos to all editors for your input, and Happy, Healthy Editing! (nac by page mover) P.I. Ellsworth - ed. put'r there 07:56, 2 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

James Reid (actor)James Reid (entertainer) – He is no long primarily an actor; he's been focusing on his music career at the moment. I think "entertainer" is a more accurate and broad title to him. This is a contested technical request (permalink). GeoffreyT2000 (talk) 20:07, 18 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • This should be discussed. If I recall correctly, Wikipedia tends to frown on "(entertainer)". — BarrelProof (talk) 17:13, 18 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose He is clearly primary topic and should be moved to just plain James Reid, as per proof of pageviews, where he received 98% more pageviews than other articles with same name. 36.77.132.76 (talk) 23:03, 18 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose Given that he is overhelming WP:PRIMARYTOPIC, this article should be moved to just James Reid with DAB page moved to James Reid (disambiguation). For me, discussion about whether he is primary topic or not should be conducted years ago, which he already becomes primary. 116.206.35.1 (talk) 12:41, 19 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

  • Oppose Instead move to James Reid to James Reid (disambiguation) and move James Reid (actor) to James Reid as per PRIMARY. Aoziwe (talk) 11:51, 21 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • Move to James Reid per all other arguments. He is WP:PRIMARYTOPIC per pageviews. The base name can be moved to James Reid (disambiguation) as previously stand. 202.67.42.10 (talk) 07:26, 23 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • Neutral. But with all the other James Reids here, this 28-year-old is most definitely not primary topic by lomg-term significance. Pure WP:RECENTISM. Remarkable how three IP editors with a handful of edits each all come here to say the same thing! -- Necrothesp (talk) 14:59, 23 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • Comment Giving that i not have a opinion about whether he can be moved to (entertainer) disambiguator or just being moved as primary topic, i would encourage more reputable users to join the discussion. Ping @Ortizesp:, @Tbhotch:, @Rreagan007:, and other users who usually discuss the page move. 125.167.59.165 (talk) 22:52, 23 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • Support per nom, I think it's a better disambiguator than just actor. He is clearly the most popular page with the name by page views, but seeing so many other historic entries with the name makes me hesitate to move him to base name.--Ortizesp (talk) 23:07, 23 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose "(entertainer)" as being original research and a term not used in reliable sources "the entertainer James Reid" (sic) does not exist. In ictu oculi (talk) 07:46, 26 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
When a film is listed as "main role" in 2018 after an album 2017, in what way is he not an actor still? In ictu oculi (talk) 07:48, 26 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Option A or Option B? edit

Apparently, there is a disagreement on whether the actor is primary or not, so you must now state "Option A" or "Option B" in your argument below. GeoffreyT2000 (talk) 04:43, 26 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

  • Option C: Leave the article where it is. Moving it to the base name would seem like WP:RECENTISM, and "(entertainer)" is seldom used on Wikipedia AFAIK and he seems primarily known as an actor. — BarrelProof (talk) 12:30, 26 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • Option B: While i agree that "entertainer" doesn't suitable disambiguator, he is obviously primary, based of more than 90% pageviewers than any articles named "James Reid", even for a footballer born in 1879 only have single or two-digit pageviews. It doesn't appeared to WP:RECENTISM here i think, kinda like Tom Holland does and it will remain in popular culture in foressable future. 36.68.189.18 (talk) 08:10, 27 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • Option C as BarrelProof. Current title is fine and he most certainly is not the primary topic. -- Necrothesp (talk) 11:55, 28 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • Option B. WP:PRIMARYTOPIC in 2022. Howard the Duck (talk) 13:07, 1 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • Option B per nom. ❑Jamesluiz102❑ (talk) 22:31, 4 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • Option B No option C here, because the nominator only encouraged any editor to choose either option A or B. Any user that encourage voting elsewhere must be discouraged per offwiki discussion. If anyone doesn't agree with page move, we can have WP:Move review discussion to address it. 180.254.162.220 (talk) 06:25, 14 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
