No Narnia?

I'm sorry, is it me or is there no word of his participation in the film adaptation of "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe"? It's not even listed in his filmography. Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 200.75.244.2 (talk) 05:11, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

Agreed. It isn't mentioned anywhere in the article, and considering the exposure it gained him, one would think it would be of considerable importance in the telling of his life. Just my two cents. Gnosis1185 (talk) 15:31, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

Birthday

Although many websites list his birthday as January 1st, this is actually a default date that has spread around the internet after being used on one or more celebrity sites. James has not publicy revealed his birthday, although a fansite has estimated it to be in the spring or early summer. As he is soon becoming a prolific figure in the film industry, I'm sure we wont have long to wait before the truth comes out. Crisso 14:58, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

I believe I saw on YouTube where he was doing some publicity thing on a morning show where it was a game show about himself that his birthday was indeed January 1st 63.215.29.133 22:01, 27 June 2007 (UTC)Willa 27 June 2007

If you mean this [1] - he never says any such thing. Crisso 19:16, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

Yep, that's exactly what I meant. Maybe he just is having a bit of fun with everyone, because he DEFINATELY did not want to reveal the date. Where did you get the date listed? Willa

Most websites list his birthday as 21 April (there is one which still uses 01 Jan). I think we should stick with that date (21 April). I will revert today's edit (which changed it to 01 Jan). Raymondwinn (talk) 15:26, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

This is a prime example of a little misinformation going a long way. I do wish people would wise up to the unorthodox practice some sites have of using January 1st as a default date (especially whrere birth dates are concerned). Actor Luis Guzman was listed on various sites as being born on January 1st, and now these sites are saying he was born on August 28th. I suspect Pam Ferris is another example; her birthday was previously unknown, until recently when sites suddenly starting listing it as Jan 1st. Crisso (talk) 06:41, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

Revert

Hi! I hit the "q" on my keyboard a bit to fast, so I undid my edit. I hope someone of you is able to review this edit correctly (I am not firm in this topic). Regards, abf /talk to me/ 13:06, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

Remake?

Gnomeo and Juliet a "remake" of Romeo and Juliet? Perhaps not... Can't edit main page though so hopefully some caring editor will pick this up.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.86.228.79 (talkcontribs) 23:15, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

Any clues as to why it wouldn't be a remake of Romeo and Juliet? Both the cited reference and IMDB seem to think it is... Cheers, This flag once was redpropagandadeeds 23:20, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

Stage credit correction

Under Stage Credits, He plays two characters, Walker for Act 1 and Ned for Act 2, in "Three Days of Rain." So the credit should read:

Thanks,

Confusing Info

This page links him in the role of Josh to the film White Teeth, however when you click on that link the White Teeth page says that Josh is played by another actor. Does anyone know who is actually playing it? Maladroitmortal 06:52, 15 August 2007 (UTC)Maladroitmortal

According to IMDB.com, Josh was played by two different acto\

There was a young Josh played by a young, child actor in White Teeth because the story takes place over many generations and the first time we see Josh he is 8. However, James McAvoy did play the teen-aged Josh and his is the Josh the story revolves around whenever we do see Josh. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nezray (talkcontribs) 03:50, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

Father?

The source used to state that McAvoy is already a father does not seem to be reliable; in fact, it appears to be speculative. As well, it is the only source that states that, no other source around the web corroborates that announcement.--Taty2007 (talk) 23:37, 19 August 2010 (UTC)

Further comments

  • Make clear the different between Scottish BAFTA and the BAFTAs. Looks a little odd right now (in lead and body)

I tried re-wording it but it still reads the same =/

  • "James Andrew McAvoy was born in Port Glasgow, Scotland, the son of Elizabeth (née Johnstone), a psychiatric nurse, and James McAvoy Senior, a builder.[1][2]" I don't see a lot of this information in the citations you gave. For instance, neither says anything about his full name or his birth place.

Sourced the birthplace, removed middle name

  • "His sister, Joy McAvoy, is a singer and actress.[5]" I think you need a better reference for this. Plus it doesn't say she's an actress

fixed

  • Close paraphrasing issue that needs to be fixed;
  • "He caught the eye of critics in the made-for-television 2002 screen adaptation of the book White Teeth.[14]"
  • From source: McAvoy caught the eye of critics in the small-screen adaptation White Teeth before being cast in a pivotal role in the sci-fi effort Children of Dune."
reworded
  • Ref 15: I can't access this one, but does it really say all of this: "2003 marked the year McAvoy had his first international starring role, which would be Leto Atreides II, in the Sci Fi Channel television miniseries Frank Herbert's Children of Dune, adapted from two of Frank Herbert's novels. It is one of the highest-rated programs ever to be aired on the channel.[15] " That seems like a lot for just an interview
I recall it stating the latter, with some brief bits of the plot. I've reworded the rest.
  • "Another 2004 release for him was Inside I'm Dancing, an Irish production helmed by Damien O'Donnell. In it, the actor was cast as the principal character: a maverick with duchenne muscular dystrophy." Needs ref

done

  • "Screenings of Atonement were held at the 2007 Toronto International Film Festival (it was one of most acclaimed films there), and Venice Film Festival.[39][40] " Remove parentheses (integrate "most acclaimed..." into text). Also, I don't see anything saying it was one of the most acclaimed films at Toronto in the two refs cited.
Corrected the prose; from ref 39: One of the best-received films at this year's TIFF, Atonement tells the story of
  • It's Owen Gleiberman
Is the misspelling in the prose or ref/s, because I couldn't find it in either 0_o
  • You should add more specific quotes from critics for a few of his earlier performances if you can find some good ones (I've seen this done for other bio articles, and think they always add a lot)
I did previously but most of the professional/rs-wrothy critics all praised him and I felt that it might make the article seem biased =/
  • You should mention in body his next two projects (Arthur Christmas and Welcome to the Punch) with citations (or add refs to table)

done

  • Add citation for McAvoy's birthdate (either in lead or infobox)

done

A nice article overall. On hold for seven days while above comments get addressed. Thanks, Ruby comment! 04:06, 13 September 2011 (UTC)

You have either fixed the article per my comments or responded sufficiently. I'm happy to pass this one for GA. Nice work! Ruby comment! 03:20, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

Spouse Anne Marie Duff (1996-present) is incorrect. It should be Spouse Anne Marie Duff (2006-present)

Trivia add - WP:CONSENSUS

Dear editors, after talking to editor Bbb23, he advised me to post a request for a WP:CONSENSUS in this page.

1) Page related: James McAvoy

2) Type of add: Short Trivia (such as already in the page - Section: Personal life / trivia: McAvoy has stated that The Goonies (1985) is his favorite film.)

3) About relevance: There's a trivia that says "McAvoy has stated that The Goonies (1985) is his favorite film" - His idea of what mutant powers he wished he had, is just as a trivia as his favorite movie. Therefore, it's possible to conclude this "trivia" is just as relevant as his favorite movie.

4) About source: The reference points to the video where he says that, as source. At 1:48 minute of the video. The video has also subtitles for anyone that desires to understand what's being said. If we must cite the source other way, please let us know.

5) About "content to add": McAvoy stated he would like to have the mutant power to make people around him horny

If you need any other information, please don't hesitate to ask. If we must change the format of exposing that information, please let us know. Thank you very much.

Oh God, no fancruft please. That stuff only belongs on crappy fansites and bad youtube channels. This is an encyclopedia, not Entertainment Weekly the panda ₯’ 23:53, 24 July 2014 (UTC)

Table chronology.

Two of the tables have data that is listed in chronological order and two are in reverse chronological order. Awkward! Is there no standard or at least no consistency within an article? I've asked for opinions on chronology at Manual of Style/Tables: Talk --- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Manual_of_Style/Tables#Chronology.3F Thank you, 22:39, 18 August 2015 (UTC)

Narnia

it could be noted that he had to wear a prosetic nose in narnia, although this may be a bit superfluous.
