The end of Top Gear edit
The second season was obviously produced after the whole ruckus with Clarkson, because in the first episode of the second season, May makes a tongue-in-cheek joke about how if the Morris Minor disappeared overnight it would be "as if a very popular and very well-liked television program suddenly came to an end, everyone would think it was a disaster, but after a while, well, they'd get over it, probably find something else". It's possible it was just a coincidence, but his tone and body language as he says it tells me it is meant to be a reference to the end of Top Gear. The cliche 'hypothetical case". It would have to be quite an amazing coincidence too, since it would have been within less than a year of his own show being killed. I had actually assumed that these episodes were actually made during the period after Clarkson's contract was not renewed, but May's contract was still in force, so he was just making these to complete his contract to the BBC before leaving. But if the first season came out a year before the end, that can't be right. Still could be true for the second series, something to fill the gap left when Top Gear disappeared, until they could organize a new show to try to exploit the name and brand familiarity the original three had developed over 20 years.
