Fact tag edit

To User:SchroCat re this fact disputed revert [1]. What is under dispute here? That JFK and Allen Dulles were Bond fans? That I think is not a fringe theory, or do you need to see more cites for it? The idea that their fandom may have influenced their decision to launch Bay of Pigs is not being presented as fact - it's being attributed to three separate authors, all published in reliable presses. They don't all have the standing of Garry Wills, but they are reliable sources. Minority views are permissible on WP. It probably isn't appropriate for the Bay of Pigs invasion article, but for here we do have reliable sources making a connection between these leaders' fandom and a major international event. It just seems to be tag bombing. I have removed it. Warden (talk) 21:07, 23 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

How ridiculous, and how utterly uncivil and contemptible of you to have done that when Novickas had just correctly started to discuss the matter. Warden, you obviously don't need me around if you plan to take cheap steps like that, despite there being a good reason for the information to be re-framed or, preferably, removed altogether. Just for the record, "tag bombing", if you'd bothered to read the article, concerns "the addition of multiple tags to an article or adding one tag to multiple articles": hardly the case here. - SchroCat (talk) 21:25, 23 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • SchroCat added about a dozen tags to the article following cross words at the AFD discussion. This seemed excessive. Warden (talk) 22:08, 23 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • You do come up with a whole heap of drivel: I tagged the inappropriate sources: Novickas has been replacing some of these this evening. You have done nothing but delete a valid tag after a discussion had been started. That's uncivil, petty and childish behaviour, so rather than finger pointing at the correct actions of others, perhaps you should look to your own actions first. - SchroCat (talk) 22:44, 23 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Novickas, As a parting message, I'll remind you to please keep the date formats consistent throughout. - SchroCat (talk) 21:27, 23 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

I don't think date formats matter that much when an article is up for deletion. Tag bombing would bother me more if I had more confidence that AFD participants actually skimmed articles before !voting. My experience is that they don't do that very much. In this case it's turning out to be relatively easy to replace the unreliable sources with better ones. Newbies do often use unreliable sources but one can often use them as a starting point for better ones.
So back to the JFK-Dulles fandom issue? Novickas (talk) 22:41, 23 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
