Needs substantial re-write edit
Despite giving a second book as reference, I'm pretty confident every single thing in this article comes straight out of the book "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil". At the end of that book the author, John Berendt, notes: "Though this is a work of non-fiction, I have taken certain storytelling liberties..." It's an excellent book, but as one that takes such liberties, really shouldn't serve as sole source for a Wikipedia article. Wrong edit
As of May 3rd, 2016, this article contains the following sentence: QUOTE The judgment was overturned and a new trial was ordered. UNQUOTE

Why? edit
"Reportedly, Williams fell dead in the same spot where he would have fallen eight years earlier had Danny Hansford actually fired the gun and shot him." This sentence, in the Death section of the article, is the only mention of Hansford's having a gun and attempting to shoot Williams. In fact, nowhere in the article is there an explanation of why Hansford was shot or why Williams was accused -- or even what Williams was tried for or why he was acquitted, though the sentence quoted above seems to indicate that he was accused of murder, but was acquitted on the grounds of self-defence. - I was just going to bring that up on the talk page. The sentence "Reportedly, Williams fell dead in the same spot where he would have fallen eight years earlier had Danny Hansford actually fired the gun and shot him." comes out of nowhere.
