Picture of Jambo edit

Would someone please take a picture of Jambo's bronze statue and post it on Wikipedia? Thanks - lucasuvu (editor of Zoo Basel)May 27, 2010 —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lucasuvu (talkcontribs) 16:29, 27 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

August 31, 1986 edit

This section reads "Jambo stood guard over the boy when he was unconscious, placing himself between the boy and other gorillas in what ethnologists analyze as a protective gesture".

But, exactly who has analysed this as "a protective gesture"? How do we know that Jambo was standing guard, the problem being that we can't ask him what he was doing, he was a gorilla!

I'd suspect much of this is conjecture, based upon the media emotionalising the story. Danrok (talk) 00:12, 27 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

This needs a source. Also, it says "ethologist," not "ethnologist." An ethologist studies animal behaviour, and there are obviously no circumstances in which they could "ask" an animal what they're doing. They learn why animals do things by studying behavioural patterns. It would be pretty easy to distinguish between a protective gesture and, say, an aggressive one.203.214.80.117 (talk) 14:51, 29 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

"Trying to keep calm?" edit

The rescue section says "an ambulanceman and two keepers rescued the boy while trying to keep calm." This sounds somewhat comical given that paramedics would almost always try to keep calm in a rescue situation. I'm going to go ahead and deleted that part (and change "ambulanceman" to "paramedic").203.214.80.117 (talk) 14:51, 29 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Origins of Stephi edit

A phrase under the origins of Jambo's family reads "... Stephi was captured in 1950 by Columbus resident and gorilla hunter Bill Said, with two other baby gorillas, in French Equatorial Africa ...". Now this is not exactly a location, because "french equatorial africa" is too vague to be useful in any particular sense. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Darkfeffy (talkcontribs) 15:33, 30 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
