Some violence against plants is permitted?

I understood that they actually only very daintily pulled fruits and seeds and maybe a few leaves from plants, so that the plant can survive and regenerate, and that they never even kill a plant to eat.

"common practices in most dairies of all sizes are extremely cruel." This is unsourced, and grossly exaggerates what the main body says.
