Notability
editI'm not clear how Paul is notable. Which criteria of WP:MUSICBIO does the article meet? —C.Fred (talk) 23:56, 18 December 2010 (UTC)
- I think Paul meets criterion 1, since articles have been published with him as the main subject in online versions The Guardian (a British national newspaper) and the NME (a leading British music magazine), as well as many notable blogs such as Pitchfork Media.
- He should also meet criterion 9 due to his placing in the BBC Sound of... longlist, which is the largest competition of its kind in the UK. Tony Bateman (talk) 03:35, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
- He could also be considered for criterion 10 as his song BTSTU was featured on Annie Mac's 2011 compilation, which receives a lot of coverage each year — Preceding unsigned comment added by Freddiepep (talk • contribs) 14:19, 15 April 2013 (UTC)
Demo's and Everlasting Mix
editJai Paul has released several demo's that are quite difficult to obtain on the internet. However, a mixtape was complied here of most of these demo's. 184.163.43.21 (talk) 03:39, 21 February 2013 (UTC)
"Illegal Download" not fake
editEveryone is still unsure whether this is actually his music. Apparently his laptop was stolen. Also talk that this is a publicity stunt. Jai Paul said the release was "illegal," which means they are his songs. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 184.163.43.21 (talk) 00:12, 16 April 2013 (UTC)
Should Jai Paul be referred to as a "group or band"?
editAlthough contrary to popular opinion, there is strong evidence that Jai Paul is actually the band of Jai Paul and Anup Paul, who are brothers. For example see the discogs entry Jai Paul – Jasmine (Demo) where Anup Paul is also credited as writer. He appears as writer in other Jai Paul productions and also appears in media images of the band, such as in Michael Cragg's tweet. I don't know whether the whole page should be taken out of the singular Paul or something could be added? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.215.102.96 (talk) 15:51, 6 November 2013 (UTC)
- I think you would need a reliable source for this change, otherwise it may fall foul of the No Original Research policy. DElliott (talk) 11:29, 7 November 2013 (UTC)
- Ryan Schreiber of Pitchfork fame writes "Jai + Anup Paul, who record together as Jai Paul" is this blog post. MTopper 14:26, 7 November 2013 (UTC)
- Does that conflict with self-published sources? DElliott (talk) 16:51, 7 November 2013 (UTC)
- Probably, yes. I can't find any sources that have been published under editorial scrutiny, so I agree that a change would be innapropriate at this time. MTopper 20:33, 8 November 2013 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 46.208.49.115 (talk)
Omission of 2019 statement
editWhy is there no reference to his statement (it's reproduced at the end of this article https://pitchfork.com/news/jai-paul-returns-with-2-new-songs-listen/) ? Surely this is a crucial bit of information, especially regarding the "relationship with industry" section and the claims of him having leaked it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.97.50.190 (talk) 08:49, 28 October 2019 (UTC)
- I would imagine the principal reason is that people generally prefer the story that Paul's music was "self-leaked" and/or a marketing stunt, however much evidence there is to the contrary. 77.102.56.76 (talk) 04:36, 24 April 2022 (UTC)
