Questionable citation

edit

Citation points to a commercial website. Virtually all of the information on that webpage lacks citations that back statements made about the subject.

The author of the webpage states that Jacktown is incorrectly referred to as 'Osborn', despite the location having had a post office named 'Osborn', from the 1870s until it was closed in 1911.

There are no maps of that period that refer to this location as 'Jacktown'.

This Wikipedia page needs credible citation. Goggomobil (talk) 17:44, 2 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

According to Walter Romig's 'Michigan Place Names', Romig states that Osborn was a post office from 1887 until 1911.
(pg. 410, 'Michigan Place Names', 1986 reprint). He cited the 1889 Michigan state gazette. Goggomobil (talk) 17:54, 2 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
