Merge from J-sette?

The Prancing J-Settes is the official name of the Jackson State University dance line, an auxiliary group of the Jackson State University Marching Band. The J-Settes have become nationally known for their rapid fire highly technical dance routines to selections such as I Go to Work and Swoop.

Came here looking for more info about J-sette dance style that has been made more prominent in the light of Beyonce's new video. If anyone knows more about this dance style and how it evolved from the school to the black gay community, more info would be appreciated! --64.132.222.68 (talk) 15:40, 6 February 2009 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Jsulogo.gif

Image:Jsulogo.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Lucius Fox

i just made what turns out to be a superfluous edit to this 'notable alum'. goes without saying, i've never read a batman comic or seen a movie. does this fictional character really belong, especially since his own article makes no mention of jackson state?Toyokuni3 (talk) 14:49, 20 July 2008 (UTC)

Jackson State Board of Directors

Anyone have any idea who is on the Board of Directors and how to contact them? I can't find a list online or on the JSU website.

Jackson State killings

Recommend removing the final sentence: "Howard Zinn reports a local grand jury found the attack justified." ...and adding citation to the "400 pieces of buckshot" statement. Longlivetruth (talk) 02:44, 15 March 2013 (UTC)

Redirects

Jackson College (Mississippi) should redirect here, as a former name -- 65.94.79.6 (talk) 02:26, 22 June 2013 (UTC)

Inclusion of Jackson State Killings

The shootings by police in 1972 are arguably what the school is best known for. As such, it should not be censored but should be included in the article. If anyone feels otherwise, let's discuss it here rather than edit war. @Naraht:@Broadmoor: Jacona (talk) 17:02, 24 April 2019 (UTC)

  • Agree. Hard to imagine an argument against inclusion. But if any believe otherwise, let us see the arguments here. Consider whether the "Campus" section should be merged into the history section, as it may be best treated historically, with the $500 million lawsuit, etc.CountMacula (talk) 18:57, 24 April 2019 (UTC)
  • Agree. I think they should be included. However given that the Jackson State Killings are not as famous as those at Kent State, I have no problemwith them simply being in the history rather than being in the opening paragraphs the way that they are for Kent State (which also has a much larger opening paragraphs)Naraht (talk) 18:59, 24 April 2019 (UTC)
  • I agree with Naraht that the information is clearly notable enough to warrant inclusion in the article but does not appear to be essential enough to be included in the lede. ElKevbo (talk) 19:21, 24 April 2019 (UTC)
