Deletion edit

I really don't know what the rules are but i use Wikipedia a lot. It simply defies sanity to delete someone like Jackson Davis. He plays a lead role in a ground breaking web series and clearly he is an actor who should be watched. If this is beyond the scope of Wikipedia then perhaps it is time for that scope to change and show more support for the genre of web series which is a rapidly growing media platform.--Modelmotion (talk) 22:37, 26 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Jackson should not have his site removed, it is not fair and equal to the other Lonelygirl15 members. If one is taken out then the rest should be to. Jackson is basically the main character of the show now. I don't think there is any reason on why wikipedia should delete this page. Also Jackson will have a growing career. If wikipedia is needing to delete pages why don't they just delete the pages that have nothing. This is disrespectful.--GreekFan1 (talk) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.184.127.167

Jackson is a key actor in one of the most popular web series out there. One which made the biggest impact on the internet till this day. I find it illogical how Both Jessica Lee Rose and Yousef are aloud their pages yet Jackson apparently doesn't need to be shown? Wikipedia obviously does not support the growing new media of Web Series. A genre that many big companies such as Sony, Yahoo and social networks Myspace and Bebo are trying to replicate to profit from this new media. As someone from the LG15 community who has watched many new fans come questioning in Chat and the lg15 forums about lg15 related topics i know one they ask would be the that portray those characters and it be allot easier if they "Just wikipediaerd Jackson Davis" to find more information --- TDZane —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.12.161.188 (talk) 23:24, 26 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

I agree with the others. Jackson is a key player in this popular web series. His character is now considered one of the two main characters, along with the others. Jackson is definitely someone to keep. His resume is continuously getting longer and I think maybe wait six months to a year to see how he develops in notoriety. Apparently we are supposed to put our comments in a different section of Wikipedia. [[1]]--Modelmotion (talk) 02:33, 27 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Reverting Puffery/Removal of LGPedia Link edit

The addition of the Puffery tag was added with the description "due to addition of minor appearances sourced by unreliable/original research references" [2] However, none of the information on this page shows either original research or unreliable sources. If you believe otherwise, please provide examples of such. Additionally, no one is saying the more minor appearances are what make the subject notable. He is notable for his appearances on Lonelygirl15, KateModern, and LG15: The Resistance, as stated in the intro. This seems to be another tactic by Otterathome to discredit (read both the deletion review and his Wikiquette alert for more details) the people who are voting "Keep" in the deletion review for this article (where the users do not once claim his notability is dependent on the minor appearances, but on the major ones in the shows listed above).

Additionally, the LGPedia link was removed due to a citation of WP:EL. However, the following quote from that policy indicates that the link is valid.

"Wikipedia articles about any organization, person, web site, or other entity should link to the subject's official site, if any. The official site should typically be listed first." -- The link is Jackson Davis's official bio on the LG15 website.

Appearances that are so not notable that they aren't even mentioned and need to be linked to the actual video is puffery. Including the music video appearance, bud light commercial appearance, and the appearances in non-notable youtube videos. And the link was removed because it was already in the references.--Otterathome (talk) 17:58, 3 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
The links to the videos themselves are permitted under WP:PRIMARY, which states "a primary source may be used only to make descriptive claims." The way they are listed does not make any analysis, but only descriptive claims, and therefore are permitted. They are not an example of WP:PUFFERY because no one is attempting to claim that the appearances are what the actor is notable for (the policy states that people engaging in Wikipuffery are "seeking to exaggerate the notability of article subjects to avoid deletion of the article") Davis' claim to fame is the appearances in Lonelygirl15, KateModern, and LG15: The Resistance. I do not see anyone saying that the minor roles are what the actor is notable for, but if you can find a significant number of people saying otherwise, please feel free to provide proof here.
For the LGPedia link, I am assuming you are referring to WP:ELNO number 15 for your removal of the LGPedia link. However, if you look at the top of that section in bold letters it explicitly states "Except for a link to an official page of the article's subject" Since the link in question is an official page of the article's subject, it should remain separately in both sections.

The Bud Light commercial is a Bud Light commercial, not a YouTube video. As such, assessing it by standards of a YouTube video's notability shows a grave misunderstanding of what is happening and what is being done.
Jackson Davis was in a Bud Light commercial. His appearance in said Bud Light commercial is linked from his Wikipedia page. Whether the commercial is hosted on YouTube, Revver, Wikipedia, MyVideo, MegaVideo or a private site is utterly irrelevant. The point is to show his appearance in the commercial.
