Can't find any reference to what it stands for. Maybe it's just to distinguish him from Jack Forbes, the actor who (curiously enough) was also born in Long Beach.WQUlrich (talk) 22:43, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

Heritage

The sources I'm reading now describe him as of "Powhatan-Renape/Delaware-Lenape descent". This is different from being a tribal member, so we may need to shift some cats here.[1] - CorbieV^☊☼ 21:43, 9 November 2015 (UTC)

Nationality

I restored the nationality that was listed in the infobox (American), because it could be in question. As discussed extensively on [[2]], Native American tribes are nations, legally in the US "domestic dependent nations." (See: Tribal sovereignty in the United States). Jack D. Forbes identified as being "Powhatan-Renape"; however, he was never a member of the Chickahominy Indian Tribe, Chickahominy Indian Tribe–Eastern Division, Pamunkey Indian Tribe, or any other federally recognized tribe. So the fact that he was American may be obvious, but it is readily obvious is that he was not a citizen of any Native American nation. Yuchitown (talk) 19:23, 11 February 2023 (UTC)Yuchitown

Yuchitown, perhaps I'm missing something - the only mention of Native American tribes I see at that discussion is a comment that they are not nationalities for the purposes of this parameter, so wouldn't be added here anyways. Nikkimaria (talk) 02:57, 12 February 2023 (UTC)

Sorry if I didn't provide a good link. The discussion has been endless, but First Nations and federally recognized tribes are indeed nations and used throughout Wikipedia when someone is an enrolled citizen, in combination with additional nation-states the person might also be a citizen of (typically Canada or the United States). It's not the end of the world if "American" is removed from this person's infobox, but it did provide useful clarification for readers interested in Native political status. I think it would require a lot of interpretation on the reader's side for them to understand that by having |nationality=American, you mean not Native American. Nikkimaria (talk) 03:16, 13 February 2023 (UTC)
