Incorrect name

As a former JSE employee, I know that after the organisation moved out of Johannesburg (to Sandton) and was re-branded, the name JSE specifically stood for JSE Securities Exchange, a Recursive acronym (same as VISA or SAAB). The current official name of the JSE is The JSE Limited, and nowhere on http://www.jse.co.za do they refer to themselves by the name this article carries. I suggest a rename?

Fine with me, I agree move to JSE (without "The" and "Limited", see Wikipedia:Naming conventions). I would suggest some sort of explanation in the article ("History" section) where the acronym JSE came from originally, like BP acronym from the old British Petroleum, for example. nirvana2013 17:25, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

Template

A new template has been added called JSE which allows live quotes from the exchange. See FrontRange Solutions for an example.

Renaming - again

Two entities are being confused here. JSE Limited is a (listed) corporation that operates a bourse named the JSE Securities Exchange. This article is about the bourse, not about the company that owns it. Renaming. 9Nak (talk) 16:20, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

Incorrect Information

The statement at the end of the History section is mostly incorrect.

In early 2011 the JSE upgraded their systems to linux based, and locally hosted instead of in london. Thus international internet outages now do not affect local trading. Previously breaks in international transmission caused trading to halt.

The upgrade and relocation has not happened yet. Their trading system is still hosted in London and does suffer interruptions due to international connectivity [1][2]. The JSE is currently moving to Millenium IT developed trading systems and will complete this move by the end of 2012 [3][4] — Preceding unsigned comment added by 41.160.27.42 (talk) 10:14, 22 July 2011 (UTC)

The upgrade has now completed, although I wouldn't call a Solaris based system "Linux based" if I were you. The new trading engine went live on the 2nd July. 16th biggest bourse?

By what measure does the JSE rank 16th? Is it market cap or turnover or some other statistic or combination of statistics. This needs to be properly defined and explained in the article. Roger (talk) 09:22, 25 March 2012 (UTC)
