Hi, I am a student and as part of my assignment I plan to edit this page. Plans for improvement:

  • I am to simplify the lead section slightly
  • Add a section on regulation and maybe add a table outlining the functions of different proteins in regulation
  • Add a section on the role of JAK-STAT pathway in cytokine signalling
  • Add a section on the role of the JAK-STAT pathway in development
  • Talk about more diseases associated with the pathway
  • Explain interactions involved in the mechanism
  • General brushing up and editing, e.g. grammar, re-organisation into correct headings

I have now added the 'Regulation' section. I am going to proof read the section again, but if someone could read through it add maybe check for coherence and flow that would be great. AThind12 (talk) 20:50, 10 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

I have added more information to the mechanism section now. I removed the third paragraph of the previous, unedited page because I made a whole new section on it. I moved the previous second paragraph of the mechanism section to the section about intergration with other pathways because I thought the content was suited to that section. I have added more information to the page now. I removed the flowchart because I thought it may be inaccessible for the visually impaired and most of what was in the image was in the text. AThind12 (talk) 21:04, 19 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

This article is not good. It needs to be improved. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 46.223.51.100 (talk) 17:58, 27 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Some suggestions for improving this page
Fix grammar.
Make the entire article less discombobulated. It seemed that the ideas/ writing jumped from one concept to another without a solid structure. For example, Regulation should be a subheading, instead of just another paragraph under mechanism?
A more thorough and systematic explanation of the signaling pathway is needed. Potentially a through an illustrated stepwise process.
The citations currently embedded are fine. However, I think more research about the actual signaling pathway is necessary so that the Wiki page has a more thorough/ easier to understand explanation.
The first sentence, last sentence of the 2nd P, and the last sentence of the 3rd P are not cited.
Many of the citations are from Nature articles, so they are reliable, appropriate references, however I am not certain whether the information on this page actually came from the citations or if they were added just because citations are necessary. Because of this, I recommend thoroughly examining the citations already on this page (there are not many) and then expanding upon the actual signaling pathway.
I think a major issue within this article is the choppiness- it is not easy to read and many of the steps blur together especially at the end of the second paragraph.
Since Jak-stat is an important signaling pathway in cancer, it may be interesting to make a section to address the cancer research being done with the Jak-stat pathway.
I think it would also be useful for any editor to check out how the Jak-stat pathway is discussed in immunology textbooks.
It is clear from one comment on the talk page and the lack of discussion on the talk page that this wiki page needs help. This need for improvement is also obvious considering it is of interest to 3 WikiProjects.

How many receptors

edit

How many types of receptor are there for the 3 JAKs ?

And how do the 3 JAKs relate to the 7 STATs ? Rod57 (talk) 01:28, 10 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Plans for improvement:

I plan on adding a section about how this signalling pathway is important in cancer and other diseases. Hopefully, this will make the page more accessible and help people understand this pathway's affect on diseases and drug development. I also plan on editing it more generally and trying to get it to flow better. I may also add a little more information to the leading paragraph.

Gibberish in Second Sentence

edit

There seems to be nonsensical words in the second sentence of this article "inform lu up john your public phone ICC gation".

I am not the author and am not a cell biologist so I have no idea what it is supposed to say. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Earendur-01 (talkcontribs) 23:14, 21 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
