The only vehicle accessible road is 4.5 miles long. It is one way. Once you enter, you cannot turn around and leave. You MUST go all the way through the park in order to exit. This may not be a big deal for vehicles but this also applies to bicycles. This is NOT a family friendly park when it comes to bicycles. If you're one mile into the trail, you can't turn around and go back to the visitor center to use the rest rooms. If you do and get caught you can get a ticket and pay a fine and have your bicycles confiscated. This isn't really a pedestrian friendly park either. While you could turn around and go back as a pedestrian, it is a very long hike for young families or the average person. A motor scooter is probably the best way to get around as you can pass traffic. There are few if any public restrooms available other than at the visitor center. If you are elderly, disabled, have small children (under 12) or are not in generally good health, this may not be the park for you. The most interesting part of this park for most people is the visitor center. There are few access points to Pine Island Sound. The two most interesting things to see is the shell Indian mound and the vast array of birds to photograph.
