Hypocorism

edit

The use of "Izzy" in the lede has flapped from when I submitted this as a draft, to removing it in acceptance, to re-adding it. Is "Izzy" a sufficiently common hypocorism for Isabella to omit it per MOS:HYPOCORISM, or not common enough and warrants inclusion per MOS:QUOTENAME? -71.34.68.140 (talk) 17:06, 24 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Via @S.A. Julio in an edit summary removing it:

MOS:NICK: "If a person has a common English-language hypocorism (diminutive or abbreviation) used in lieu of a given name, it is not presented between quotation marks or parentheses within or after their name. Consider as a "common" hypocorism one that shortens in a conventionalized way, sometimes also with a diminutive suffix added, and which is derived from a name frequently used in English-speaking countries, e.g. Liz, Beth, Lizzy, Bettie, etc., from Elizabeth."
