Just realized that it should be "Ivo Taillebois" and not "Ivo de Taillebois" as that would mean Ivo of Woodcutter, which is silly. I just aped the "William de Taillebois" page, which is probably wrong, too. (Lordjim13 13:54, 4 August 2006 (UTC))Reply

I moved it. --Cúchullain t/c 07:16, 3 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Can anyone shed any further light on whether it should be 'de Taillebois' or not. The article currently does not use 'de', but at least one source does and the fact he was from a place called Taillebois means I am inclined to favour a change. Retroplum (talk) 14:22, 8 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

I am not sure that Ivo was called Taillebois ever, without the "de". It seems likely that no one saw the surname as a profession though. As currently mentioned with sources in the article, Taillebois is a place name in Normandy. Perhaps it should be moved back to "de Taillebois"?--Andrew Lancaster (talk) 13:03, 1 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
The placename Taillebois may perhaps have derived from the family name, rather than vice versa. I came to this page having just discovered that, just possibly, he may have been an ancestor of mine - at least, according to this source. I don't know how reliable it is! The article currently uses a mix of old ideas. We cite Keats-Rohan but actually do not use her theory which seems the most recent and the one looking at the most evidence. I will adjust the article.--Andrew Lancaster (talk) 13:03, 1 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
