Cleanup

edit

The wording and tone in this article needs further work. --apers0n 07:41, 14 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

A very good, although Dutch, article is in the Dutch wikipedia site. Unfortunately, my translation skills leave a lot to be desired. --kwoot 16:00, 8 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Suggestions/comments

edit

I'm not remotely qualified to write this material, but I do have some suggestions and comments.

The "Treatment/Management" and "Prognosis" sections contain the same language about therapies helping idic sufferers develop to their full potential. In my opinion that really only belongs in Treatment/Management.

"IDIC(15) is one of the rare chromosome abnormalities that occurs more often." That's a contradiction. If it's rare it doesn't occur often. Do you mean that it's a rare abnormality, but not one of the rarest? CarlFink 14:10, 9 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

The edits we've made to the Idic15 - Isodicentric 15 page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isodicentric_15 are to clearly demonstrate that "Dup15q" is a private trademarked word owned by the Dup15q alliance and its use is strictly limited as outlined on their own website https://www.dup15q.org/the-alliance/logo-policy/ It would be better if the Idic15 - Isodicentric 15 page did not mention "Dup15q" at all since it is a trademarked word and privately controlled. However, if it is used on the Idic15 - Isodicentric 15 page, "Dup15q" should be clearly defined as a private and trademarked term such as "Coca-Cola" vs the generic public term "soft drink". The repeated efforts to minimize or ignore this significant difference by the Dup15q Alliance should not be allowed on the Idic15 - Isodicentric 15 page as their own website clearly demonstrates their private authority and use thereof for Dup15q. ... except it doesn't. Their website talks about the use of the 'Dup15q Alliance' name and logo, and a query of the USPTO TESS database shows no registered trademarks with the phrase 'Dup15q' in them. Not sure who you are or what your motivation is? Are you the Dup15Q Alliance? EwanKerr (talk) 17:52, 7 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

Former contents of Inv dup(15) which now redirects here, in case any of it should be merged:

  4. Seizures
  5. Abnormal dermatoglyphics
  6. Mild somatic abnormalities

External links on Wikipedia are supposed to be "encyclopedic in nature" and useful to a worldwide audience. Please read the external links policy (and perhaps the specific rules for medicine-related articles) before adding more external links.

The following kinds of links are inappropriate:

  • Online discussion groups or chat forums
  • Personal webpages and blogs
  • Multiple links to the same website
  • Fundraising events or groups
  • Websites that are recruiting for clinical trials
  • Websites that are selling things (e.g., books or memberships)

I realize that some links are helpful to certain users, but they still do not comply with Wikipedia policy, and therefore must not be included in the article. WhatamIdoing (talk) 06:27, 17 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Merge with Dup15q?

edit

There is already an article for Dup15q, it seems that this article should be merged with this article given the similarity of clinical traits in patients with isodicentric and interstitial duplications of 15q11.2-13.1? They are really part of one genetic syndrome, Dup15q syndrome.Kleinhern (talk) 08:56, 6 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Dup15q[1] is a private and trademarked word and is not interchangeable with the public medical term Isodicentric 15 (Idic15). Idic15 (talk) 19:08, 12 October 2019 (UTC) Idic15 FamiliesReply

While I feel a bit uncomfortable about an organisation laying a legal claim to the name of a disease (if that's what's actually happening), 'Dup15q' is not a registered trademark. Feel free to check for yourself. EwanKerr (talk) 17:44, 7 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

Dup15q

edit

Someone or a group of people is determined to keep stating in the article that "Dup15q" is a registered legal trademark owned privately.

It isn't. "Dup15q Alliance" is a registered trademark, if that helps.

I really don't understand the motivation of the person(s) doing it but I'm happy for them to discuss it here. — Preceding unsigned comment added by EwanKerr (talkcontribs) 22:28, 28 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
