Death date

edit

The brief necrology in 'The Gentleman's Magazine' is not corroborated by others sources, who have him die in 1824 : here again in battle "in 1824" without further information, here from sickness in the aftermath of the battles of Gerondas and in the Dodecanese etc, here in the same circonstances as the latter (but with a mistaken 1826 instead of 1824 - events described are indoubtedly the battle of Gerondas). It seems very dubious that he really died in battle, since it would have been recorded elsewhere than in sympathetic necrologies if the Greeks had really managed to kill the Egyptian admiral in an encounter.--Phso2 (talk) 09:49, 20 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

some information about character of Ismael Gibraltar

edit

by accident I came across the German translation of an article published in New Monthy Magazine, London?? . Title and date of publication unknown here, but prior to 1829. I have transcribed it in German Wikisource under "Ismaïl Gibraltar in Europa". The article itself mostly contains rather ridiculous information but some might be worth to be considered serious, e.g. 1824 as year of death during a battle.
