Jaali edit

The wikilink Jaali leads to an Indian architectural element, screens carved from stone. I would have made a link to different Jaali, but I really don't know what to call the article: Jaali (Arabic Speakers)? Jaali (Sudanese Group)? Can somebody with a clue create the right article title to link to? Sorry if this causes consternation. It is meant well.--Nemonoman 15:56, 12 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

"However, large-scale religious conversions did not occur until the reign of Ahmad Bakr (1682–1722), who imported teachers, built mosques, and compelled his subjects to become Muslims." https://books.google.com/books?id=oN5LbDnKCt4C&pg=PA55&lpg=PA55 word for word not sure which came first Elinruby (talk) 06:29, 30 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

Pretty sure it's the Wikipedia article. "Dr. Fadlalla" is publishing through a vanity press, and there are many other spots where the wording is copied wholesale from this Wikipedia article--which goes back into the early 2000s itself. I put the link to a US Army report I found below. It seems to me that the Wikipedia article was paraphrasing the Army report (which was from the 80s), along with other sources, without clear attribution. --Elaboration Station (talk) 03:41, 9 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

References edit

Very few of the claims in the article are referenced, and there's clearly some confusion between notes and references. Some of the claims I've been able to source in this reference book on Sudan by the US Army. If I have the time I'll try and integrate it and other sources into the article, but if I don't I'm leaving it here to help the next person down this path.
