What's in a name? edit

So, I want to know how it is that a Catholic Saint has such an obviously Jewish name? -ErinHowarth 04:29, 15 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Lots of Christians have been baptized with the name Isaac. The names of Old Testament saints are very popular as religious names among Eastern Orthodox monks. See, for example, Saint Isaac the Syrian. MishaPan (talk) 17:50, 4 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

"among the former"? edit

text has "Both the Orthodox and the Catholic churches have glorified Isaac as a saint . Among the former, his feast day falls on May 30," Does "the former" mean "The Orthodox"? in which case what is the Catholic date? or "the churches previously named"? in which case "among the former" can be simply deleted and replaced with a semicolon to avoid confusion.--Richardson mcphillips (talk) 11:26, 30 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
