Talk:Isaac Casaubon

Authenticity check: A search reveals that the phrase "regarded by many" appears in the text. Is the phrase a symptom of a dubious statement? Could a source be quoted instead? Perhaps the "many" could be identified? Might text be edited to more genuinely reflect specific facts?

Is this figure the source for Umberto Eco's hero of Foucault's Pendulum? Does anyone know? Thanks! Mashford 03:26, 1 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Another Question edit

The article in Nature News (http://www.nature.com/news/2011/110617/full/474436a.html?WT.ec_id=NEWS-20110621) refers to Casaubon having disproved the supposed Egyptian origin of some text by finding a reference in the text to a Greek play in words. I would guess that this refers to his work towards the end of his life, but if this isn't a trivial point (I have no way of evaluating that), it would be nice to refer to it in this article.
