Iraqi republican guard military gear edit

The article states the gear was purchased from the USSR and the US. Does anybody know what sort of gear this was?Zebulin 19:58, 4 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

The article also appears to say Soviet military gear was purchased from the US. I guess it's not impossible, but the section needs more information. -Yasha82.44.114.57 01:16, 15 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Equipment edit

It was equipment, like small arms, tanks, etc. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Raabbasi (talkcontribs) 01:16, 5 May 2007 (UTC).Reply

I know they had a lot of soviet equipment but did they purchase it directly from the soviet union or did they buy it from third parties? As to the purchase of US equipment my understanding is that the US never sold *any* military equipment at all to Iraq after Iraq withdrew from the Central Treaty Organization (Baghdad pact) way back in the 50's. I think the article might be more accurate to simply state that the RG used Soviet and US equipment without indicating that they purchased it directly from either country until we can find a source to confirm this.Zebulin 06:53, 8 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Here is a good source, but it doesn't talk about where equipment was purchased from: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/2511765.stm Raabbasi 07:17, 8 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Republicanguard.jpg edit

Image:Republicanguard.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
