Further news coverage

edit

Someone made an edit to Iraqi Kurdistan (quickly reversed) that the president is now Yousuf Muhammad. Anybody have knowledge of how it's playing out? One story says that Barzani's term looked likely to be extended until the next (parliamentary?) election, another that he is pushing for a referendum.

Here are some news articles that I did find, in case they are useful in expanding this article.

  • Barznjy, Hiwa (2013-04-25). "Iraqi Kurdistan a dictatorship? Current president will break law, run for election again". Niqash. Retrieved 12 September 2015.

Apologies that so many are from one publication; it's a shame that Western media aren't covering this.

Next Iraqi Kurdistan presidential electionIraqi Kurdistan presidential election, 2017 – Though postponed twice, there is a fixed date now and the overwhelming expectation that Barzani's presidential term won't be extended again, with the new PUK/Gorran alliance insisting on 2017 elections. -- PanchoS (talk) 10:57, 14 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
