Genre: comics?

Why {{infobox comics creator}} if Ionicus is known best for book illustrations (mainly cover art?) or magazine cartoons (single panel, i infer)?

P. G. Wodehouse, Sunset at Blandings (1977) --if not other novels-- contributed first edition interior illustrations as well as dustjacket [1] [2].
English-language editions, 1976–79, of three picture books written by Irmelin Sandman Lilius, 1969–71, are his three most widely held works in WorldCat libraries --as catalogued by the libraries, which routinely credit interior but not cover illustrators [3].

Identity

edit

VIAF has not yet unified the ID numbers for Ionicus 40651936 33210851 282025279 261289606 [4].

He may be represented in some arts (or British military) database as Joshua Charles Armitage or J.C. Armitage. --i suppose, as the new source [ ref name=independent ] says that in 1944 "he wanted a nom de plume to distinguish his light-hearted work from his more serious oil painting".
--but VIAF does not separately hit Armitage, Joshua Charles or J.C. [5] (i tried multiple versions).
