The name 'Inverclyde' edit

From Some Memories of a Scotswoman by Mary Hay Corfield, 1934 p. 53

In 1897, the year of Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee, Her Majesty conferred on my father a peerage... family discussions on the title were many. At last Inverclyde of Castle Wemyss was decided (since) Castle Wemyss is situated at the mouth of the Clyde.

From the Greenock Telegraph, 14th October 1973

Editorial 'Inverclyde' (name suggested by the newspaper)

It would ... be a tribute to the late Lord Inverclyde, whose interest in the area was always constant (sic)

Places of interest edit

Castle Wemyss is indeed a place of interest but, sadly, it's not in Inverclyde - it's on the other side of Scotland. I have removed the link. --GMcGlinn (talk) 01:56, 18 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

the result of this discussion was to merge. Jellyman (talk) 15:24, 4 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

I propose that Inverclyde District be merged into Inverclyde. Separate articles don't exist for former regions that have been retained with the same areas for modern council areas, e.g. Highland or Fife, so there's no reason to have separate articles here either. The Inverclyde District article is an unsourced stub in any case, so the very little useful information can be easily incorporated to the Inverclyde article. Agree with points raised. --Breadandcheese (talk) 17:17, 6 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
