Improved map
editCan we get a map which has state borders or other landmarks to make it actually usable? The current one is pretty hard to follow, given that it doesn't have any obvious landmarks. --Jayron32 03:31, 28 January 2013 (UTC)
- You can file a request at WP:USRD/MTF/R, but unfortunately our map makers are inactive right now. --Rschen7754 03:41, 28 January 2013 (UTC)

Removed section: Interstate numbering
editI-80N was renumbered to I-84 in 1980 as part of a mandate by American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials to eliminate suffixed routes and reduce traveler confusion. With the change, however, the designation of I-82 fell outside the standard numbering rules for Interstates, which would have higher numbers for the northernmost east–west routes.
Just removed the above passage from the article, since there's no decent citation out there despite it being a true (but niche) fact. Will add it back if there's ever a good one found. SounderBruce 06:50, 20 September 2018 (UTC)
New Section: Why is I-82 named that?
editHello! I am Ethan369 (talk) 17:55, 28 December 2022 (UTC).
Important: Please do not delete this:
I-82 is not an east-west highway, it is more of a north-northwest/south-southeast highway. Also, even if it was, its eastern end was I-84 and its western end is I-90. Therfore, it should be named I-86 or I-88. Perhaps this was to not have three I-86's or I-88's, but that does not follow the general rules of Interstate numbering.
However, because I-82 is not east-west, I think it should be named I-9.
- @Ethan369: The numbering issue is addressed in the article; I-84 was I-80N prior to 1980, and thus I-82 was numbered correctly. It is part of a longer east-west corridor (Seattle to Salt Lake City), so an even number was given. Please don't use talk pages as a forum in the future. SounderBruce 01:11, 29 December 2022 (UTC)
