Section 1.2, Express Lanes, will need further attention edit
Thank you, Zzyzx11, for editing the article to show that the express lanes are now open, and providing an excellent reference (currently #11). However, I am revising your edit on an important point. You had "Solo drivers are required to use a FasTrak transponder", implying that carpools do not require a FasTrak transponder. I had heard differently, so I went to ref. 11, which appears to be authoritative. According to ref. 11 and a linked page, all users of the express lanes must have a transponder. Furthermore, the requirement for those exempt from tolls (especially carpools) is stricter if they want to benefit from their exemption. They cannot use the standard Fastrak transponder, but instead need a "FasTrak Flex toll tag". This is a lot of detail for a Wikipedia article. To provide at least a partial improvement, I have simply edited the sentence from:
Solo drivers are required to use a FasTrak transponder.
to:
All drivers are required to use a transponder. A new version of the transponder is needed in some cases. (ref. 11)
Ref. 11 is a web page, so I have changed the access date. My edits may not be correct, and Zzyzx11 and others are encouraged to revise further if needed. Oaklandguy (talk) 10:04, 26 February 2016 (UTC)
