Since I-155 is an Interstate, the call to Template:il browse should show Interstates. Will (Talk - contribs) 03:59, 4 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

That is not correct per WP:USRD. --Rschen7754 (talk - contribs) 04:07, 4 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

It does not make sense to list IL-155 as the route before I-155. Will (Talk - contribs) 05:01, 4 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

It does as that is how the browse sequence goes- people browsing by number find that useful. All other state highway projects do that. --Rschen7754 (talk - contribs) 05:13, 4 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
There is actually a rationale behind this, but I'm not sure if other state projects follow it:
  1. On state highway pages (IL-155), the browse box is located in the infobox, and covers only state highways. However, there is a "see also" section that lists non-state highway pages.
  2. On high-level detail Interstate or U.S. pages (I-155, U.S. 24), the browse box covers all varieties of highways. There's one on U.S. 24 that goes "IL 23 <-- (U.S. 24) --> I-24". In this system, ideally the order would be "SH X --> U.S. X --> I-X --> SH X+1 --> U.S. X+1 --> I-X+1..." Also note that the browse box links are exclusively linked to the state-level detail of the page (U.S., Interstate), even if it is an automatic redirect to another high-level detail page.

Any questions? —Rob (talk) 12:20, 4 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

That's not how it's supposed to work, all states are supposed to follow #2 above. --Rschen7754 (talk - contribs) 00:15, 6 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Even though I-180 and other 3 digit interstates are state specific, I have to consider them to be federal, not state, highways. Will (Talk - contribs) 00:07, 6 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Note about stability

edit

I'm done editing the article for the foreseeable future, as there don't seem to be any more published sources. Generally, that's when the clusters of edits come in. :-D —Rob (talk) 17:53, 10 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Is there a freely available map available for this article? May want to look on gov. websites (i.e. The Department of Transportation)

Introduction

  • Increasing traffic volumes on the road caused to numerous fatal accidents near Morton, leading state officials to replace the route with a limited-access freeway.
Too many "lead"s. Break this up into two sentences if possible.
  • I had to copyedit this section.
  • Avoid using "route", but use "interstate" instead.
  • Illinois Route 121 - add (IL 121) because I notice that IL 121 is used later throughout the article as an abbreviation.

Route description

  • Avoid using the word "it"
  • No cites.
  • Interstate 155 is a four-lane freeway for its entire length. It runs through rural central Illinois and is surrounded for most of its length by farmland.
Combine sentence, and delete the word "it".
Correct: Surrounded mostly by farmland, Interstate 155 is a four-lane freeway running through rural central Illinois.
  • Near Morton, some residential development is taking place near the highway. - OR
  • I copyedited one sentence in this section.

History

edit
  Issue addressed miranda 10:03, 1 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
  • Look in the thes. for other words which are synonymous with "runs"
  • Correct: Within a few years, the intersection with IL 121 would as the "Killer Corner". Traffic volumes increased between Lincoln and Peoria on IL 121.
  • How does IL 98 related to IL 121?
  • To the north, a short freeway portion was constructed in 1970 to replace a bridge over the Mackinaw River. - Which highway are we talking about, and to the north of what?
  • New paragraph should start with the lawsuit.
What was the name of the lawsuit?
  • Illinois had applied for I-155 to be designated Interstate 37, but the request was rejected by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO).[4]
Last sentence needs to be integrated with last paragraph. When did they apply for the status?
    • I've cited original sources and buffed up this sentence so it can stand on its own. The original applications aren't anywhere on the web, so I don't know the date of application, but I do know the dates of decision, and have put that in. —Rob (talk) 16:55, 24 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

IL 98 opened in the early 1960s?

edit

Old maps show that the main road from Morton to Pekin was always in the same location. Is it the relocated IL 121 that opened in the 1960s? --NE2 18:29, 9 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
