POV

The article currently reads like a flyer made by the IFAW itself. Many words describing their good work with their awesome state-of-the-art boat, that kind of thing. IFAW is clearly using this page as a free promo - whoever 'jbouvier' is is clearly working for them and deleted a critical line without noting the deletion. See the revision that was made on the 25th of Dec 2006.

Not clearly working for them IMO. The revision there, made by someone who has "tested" and spammed some other articles. It was not sourced either, so 'jbouvier' was probably right in removing it, as it was most likely false. Bib 14:20, 6 January 2007 (UTC)

A Google search reveals a J C Bouvier (owner of www.jcbouvier.com), a consultant who also claims to be the "online community coordinator" for IFAW - thus he clearly works for them. If you don't believe me go to

Bouvier doesn't make it a secret that he works for them (he said so much on my talk page). We should be careful not to let this article go the other way: every large organisation is criticised, so there is room for a criticism section in every article about an organisation, but criticism shouldn't be the main subject of the article. I personally have been periodically getting spam messages from IFAW asking for money (not picked up by spam filter) and I am not signed up for any newsletters or anything. The emails are infrequent enough that I haven't taken the time to block them. I understand that some guy commenting on the internet isn't a source to use in an encyclopedia, but people should take these sort of practices into consideration.

Hi, this is J.C. Bouvier...and I do work for IFAW. The goal here in posting this material to Wikipedia was to give the community a foundation to start an article where only a stub had previously resided. If the person who posted last can provide me their email address I'll be happy to make sure that they no long receive unwanted email from IFAW. And if I can be of any further assistance re: the post I'm happy to do so.

Although people here have claimed this is pov I see no-one since January has actually added anything to the discussion. I have removed the templates. Hi - This is J.C. Bouvier - I work for IFAW, and eagerly ask that a non-POV editor review the materials posted to this article. In the meantime, I've taken the liberty and worked to follow Wikipedia protocol...per citation 2 in the Wikipedia:Verifiability by Mr. Wales.

There are additional materials added to this page by user:JasonAdams781 - a profile now abandoned that are not cited and in some instances represent the POV of the editor.

This text in particular: "Despite their charity rankings IFAW is in reality mainly a middleman to disseminate funding after taking a large percentage for their own enormous overhead and for elaborate travel."

"(I've personally run into IFAW CEO and management staff flying business class and staying at deluxe hotels in the Washington DC area)."

"The CEO routinely mingles with b-list celebrities in an attempt to convey an image of a big NGO when in reality IFAW is quickly faltering due to poor management oversight of budget."

These items posted by the same need citations: "Rather than actually conducting any animal emergency relief efforts IFAW subcontracts out to many small NGO's in developing countries."

"As of summer 2009 IFAW had reduced it's budget by more than 15 million..."

jbouvier from IFAW again: I appreciate the community placing a dispute review over the controversy section, as there are several undocumented claims present there.

I've removed this latest one by a previous editor, Jasonadams781:

"IFAW has often been criticized for its extremely high fundraising to program ratio and resulted in the 2009 drop to one star rating by CharityNavigator.org. While the organization claims that only a small fraction of funds go to fundraising costs the truth is far from that. This has led to many questions of the organization from countries such as Germany. See this article which appeared September 30, 2011."

July 2014 Updates

Hi Wikipedia -

Have update this post with some updated numbers and to remove some outdated copy regarding IFAW programs. Also, I have added - IFAW back to the article name, as the MOVE request has as yet (6 years later) been unresolved and no other acronyms resolve. Appreciate editorial support for this post. Tx.
