Ambiguity about name "International Electrical Congress edit

It seems that the name "International Electrical Congress" was taken over by the International Electrotechnical Commission (which was created in 1906). That is, one can see references to post-1906 events that are called "International Electrical Congress". But maybe this "break" should be indicated on this page? and explained better than I am able to do. Sdc870 (talk) 17:33, 10 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Now I have tried to make a structure, and explain the principles in the article. As noted in the article, different sources make different classifications -- so unless a better secondary source can be found -- the present structure seems to do a better job than what I have been able to find in secondary sources. And primary sources (from the early 1900s) use different labels (no doubt reflecting tradition or custom) -- which adds to the confusion. Time will tell whether the structure proposed here can hold.
