Importance on Organized Labour Project scale edit

The ICN is an international association of nursing groups. It is not an association of nurses unions. While many of the ICN's members may be nurses unions, not all of them are. For example, in the United States, ICN is represented by the American Nurses Association (ANA) -- which is not a labor union. (The ANA's labor arm, the United American Nurses, is autonomous and not subject to the control or policies of the management-dominated ANA.) Many nurses unions are unable to gain entry to the ICN because an existing organization already holds ICN membership.
