Narrow gauge

Currently, double stacking operates on standard gauge and broad gauge tracks. Would there be any problems such as instablility is operating such trains on narrow gauge or metre gauge tracks? Would there be any reduction in speeds? Tabletop (talk) 04:09, 14 November 2009 (UTC)

Malcolm McLean

Why is there nothing on Malcolm McLean and the Ideal-X? He was the father of standardized containerized shipping in the US and the Ideal-X was its first ship. Abe Froman (talk) 11:43, 31 May 2011 (UTC)

There is an article on Malcolm McLean and for the SS Ideal X and details of these within Containerization. Feel free to add a short note to this article making reference to this which certainly be relevant. PeterEastern (talk) 13:08, 31 May 2011 (UTC)

Containers and container handling

dubious statement: "Containers are 8-foot (2.4 m) wide by 8-foot (2.4 m) high."

To my knowledge all ISO containers are either 8 foot 6 inches or 9 foot 6 inches high. Does anyone know of an 8 foot standard being used? As well the article mentions 8 foot 6 inches or 9 foot 6 inches in "moves to adopt other heights" where in fact these are the standard intermodal heights.
