Basic Amenities?

I dont think a very good gym and a swimming pool will be a basic amenity for each and every company. The infosys campus in bangalore is one of its kind in the world. It has all the facilities like a well maintained cricket ground, football ground, basketball, Vollyball, snookers, pool, table tennis etc.., The cricket ground in the Mysore campus of Infosys is maintained by none other than our ace indian medium pacer Javagal Srinath. The bangalore campus have a variety of buildings, which are one of there kind in india. Please see the campus and the facilities offered by Infosys before passing on any comments

You're right, the campus has extremely good facilities, but saying that it has facilities like lavatories/toilets just makes it sound silly. One of it's kind in the world? I'm sure likes of Microsoft and Google have pretty impressive campuses too. Please stick to the facts, this is an encyclopaedia, not a place for Infosys .

totally overhyped

Seriously, all these "amazing" qualities about Infosys are nothing special by standards of a successful US company. In fact, after reading up on Infosys it seems the entire company is seriously over-hyped. I'm sure Infosys is unique in India, and therefore it makes for a good motivational story, but it appears to be nothing more than a fairly boring computer consulting company. It ain't no Apple, Microsoft, eBay, Google, ... the list goes on. Jawed 08:41, 2 March 2006 (UTC)

OK... So nobody is saying that Infosys is in the same league as Microsoft, eBay, Google etc. And as the guy below said, it is a service provider. Given the amount of resources available to it, Infosys' achievements are remarkable. Had Infosys been an American company it wouldn't have been a big deal, but the fact that it has achieved so much being based in a developing nation, makes it special. I am sure if the founders of Infosys were Americans and had all the resources Americans have, Infosys would have been as big as Microsoft, Accenture etc.

I do not think the article is overhyped at all, it just lists the facts ..and FYI Infosys is not similar to the IT companies listed above..its similar to IBM or Accenture.

Article Cleanup

I realize that I am making quite a few changes to the article. So far they are only corrections, formatting and adding references. But frankly this article needs a make-over. I did not want people getting upset over the edits.

1. We need some more information for the history section
2. Key industries section should come before offices and facilities
3. All awards can be moved to a seperate Awards section
4. instep, foundation, catch them young - can be consolidated into a section called Initiatives
5. I think someone just pasted text from an article for the "Sexual Harassment Controversy". Need to clean this up and trim it down.
6. NRN was the serving Mentor at the time of his retirement.
7. Add references

I will slowly work on this. Do pitch in.

Vandalism

Someone from this IP (203.199.213.131) is repeatedly editing the article with inappropriate information. Apparently, wants to highlight the sexual harassment controversy by taking it to the top of the page. On more than one occasion, changed the word "professionals" to "asses" and then changing it back again. I am reverting the article back to the October 13, 2006 revision, since no new information has been added since then. This is a shared IP is used by IIT Madras (as seen in the user talk page). This IP has been block before. I will be voting for another block if this behavior persists.

Flag icons

Why is there only 1 flag icon on this page? This is completely inconsistent with pages such as Vodafone, Ranbaxy etc. Tri400 17:49, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

Actually there are no flag icons next to the key people, simply because they are all Indian nationals. It makes sense to add them if at least one of them is not an Indian citizen. ɤіɡʍаɦɤʘʟʟ 00:51, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

Culture and Setbacks

I see this section treated as vandalism although it has links and facts to it. I see it a bit rude but the facts are supposed to be very true as per a local Infoscion( a software engineer). It's a manager's company . Very true. I think wikipedia is also dominated by corporate culture . I see some as trying to mask things very cleverly. God save wikipedia and amount of truth it screens to be politically correct. Just went through recent clampings. Ha ha Ha ha ha ha ha... how comic and how pathetic a Infosys manager can be simultaneously !!!(Just imagining the state of Koramangala SE :-) ). It is not that there was no Reka and Phanish Murthy(who was incidentally leading next to NRN if that incident hadn't occured!!) and there are no scandals now going on (How innocent!). Just provide justifications that all facts are wrong. As I see the guy who has provided the facts has done a thorough research of Indian software Industry. It's like this: It happens everywhere in corporate world. So why only Infosys is targeted -- kind of approach .When Bill Gates(who still skillfully manages to bribe Karnataka government's nic site, inspite of state having a software capital shows what is code management! ) is hit left right and center by Open source why only Infy is talked about - a kind of sympathy . So just blow the stale air into unknown proportions and keep breathing the nauseating odour. Yes, wikipedia is not a soapbox, that's why we need to clean it constantly when it becomes dirty and me being Bengaloorean would love to keep things neat and clean, well hoping wikipedia barnstars :-) would support/rewrite the guy's (hopefully a SE) cause.

About Student Program

Infosys currently has a student program in place called Campus Connect, for college students. I don't know much about it. Someone who knows can maybe put it up somewhere in the article?Jam2k 14:58, Apr 15, 2005 (UTC)

Infosys training in college campus or infy campus?

The Student Program or Campus Connect Program is a short term training program of Infosys in colleges for students in final/pre-final years. Under this program, students are introduced and taught about the basics of programming, data structures, software development, algorithms, micro-processors and some other topics related to electrical and electronics engineering. Its a kind of a brief revision of all concepts (which are relevant to the IT industry) learnt by a BTech/BE student in the 4 years of his/her engineering. A college has to register for the Campus Connect Program with Infosys to impart the training at its campus. The program is open to all students, irrespective of the fact if he/she has been recruited by Infosys or not. After the college is registered, for the training of the first batch, professionals from Infosys generally visit the college and give the training. But, after the training of the first batch, the college needs to send some faculty members to be trained at the nearest Development centre of Infosys and these trained faculty of the college take campus connect classes for the future batches. It is here that the problems arise as reflected in previous comments, that these college faculties (who have been trained) donot teach as good as the professionals and other problems arise as stated earlier. From the professional point of view, if a student who has been selected by Infosys in campus recruitment, clears the campus connect exam (which is held in the college after the end of the Campus connect training at college), then he/she is allowed to appear for another exam just in the beginning of thier trainings, called the "fast-track" exam. Only campus connect passed and CS/IT students are allowed to sit for this exam, which, if successfully passed, reduces the training period to 40 days. Add Bangalore to Bengaluru

Best place to work for fresher?

Last line in the introduction says "Infosys is the best place to work for a fresher." I cannot think of a more random statement! Is is best place among Indian companies? Or is it best for an engineer? In either case, I can think of much better companies like Google, Microsoft, etc for a fresher to work. Global Offices

The current Global Offices section is very cluttered and hard to understand. It also adds little to the article, as locations of the offices could be found on the company website. The bulleted format (as I added) clears the clutter and makes the section more "readable." Should there be a reversion? If not, maybe the flagicons could be removed but retaining the bulleted form.

I found an article that has a side by side list that could be used, but it would be very time consuming to make. You can find the page here. I would actually suggest making a new page (IE Infosys Global Offices) with the offices as then there would be no length constraints. It could be linked to the main Infosys article. The link was supposed to show how to format side by side lists, if that would be okay to add. Sorry if that wasn't clear. Is it possible for you to maybe format the list? Infosys Foundation page is redirected to Infosys. Why?

"[M]ultiple issues" template+

I'm new to the article. I came to the talk page hoping for illumination on the "multiple issues". Now I'm a little overwhelmed: lots of old comment; then a 2007-11 gap pretty much; some renewal since. But even out-of-chron.-order sections. The various parts of the template were placed early in '12. No addressing of the template here on the talk page that I noticed, in a quick scan. The elaborate header to this talk page may connect somehow to the template -- I haven't addressed that.

I've done quite a lot of work on the article today, following on the visa-controversy news. Like an advertisement? Well, certainly much info still is from the company one way or other. Close-connection writer(s)? Maybe. I have no connection but, except for the news story, was largely dependent on the company. Yet I felt it was important info to add. Original research? Seems to run counter to the other complaints. Detailing what would be helpful.

I hope improvement can continue, including possible removal or downgrading of the template. Maybe an archive of older items here on talk page? More outside sources (straight) to the page, of course. (Seems there's a "sandbox"/help me feel to some of the posts on this talk page. Help can be found. Post {{Help me}}; query me. Can the sandbox items be converted to article contributions?

UK company with same name - InfoSys Limited

The UK company InfoSys Limited was set up in the Swindon in 1988 by Dave Caddy, Marcus Khoo and Richard Perry. It is a computer services company and have the domain name infosys.co.uk.

So far as I can tell, unless there is a mention of InfoSys Limited in the UK in this article, the current post continues to be misleading. It clearly states the new name for Infosys Technologies as Infosys Limited but does not clearly indicate that this is NOT the name in the UK.

Are these the most wonderful amenities? - or the most wonderful basic needs of a well functioning office?

Further, the gymnasium is definitely not the largest by any means.

NPOV

I think the article seems to be overly slanted positive. A section about allegations of visa fraud, complete with citations and all, was blanked by an unregistered user, even though the fact that the allegations couldn't be proved was documented in the same section. Seems to be some PR/marketing effort to keep the wiki page clean. I've restored that section, but the article still needs cleanup not only for the POV issues, but to move irrelevant/trivial information out as well (e.g. full professions of all the people on the board of directors). About the listing date and founding

Very often the data about the company is changed on this page. The founders are changed more often. There is no listing date available on the BSE website. Is something wrong with the company. As data on web cannot be authenticated someone must inquire about the company to reputable sources. In India in no newspaper it comes that there were seven founders. According to my father the company started in 1989 and when the owner with 60% stake died the whole property was transferred to her son Rahul. Who was lost in Varanasi in 1990. After that Narayanmurthy was called by the government to look after the company from the public. The article says it had the highest share price at $390 on Nasdaq during 2019. I think GOOG was above $1000 for the entire year. As a US investor I don't worry about share price (unless it is BRK.A), but don't know about investors in India and am leaving it.
