The present article title, "Carlos Maria Isidro", does not conform to Wikipedia naming conventions. I suggest "Infante Carlos of Spain". Noel S McFerran 14:03, Jun 12, 2005 (UTC)

Since nobody has expressed any opposition, I have now gone ahead and renamed the article. I have also renamed the links to this page. Noel S McFerran July 4, 2005 22:11 (UTC)

Irrelevant template

edit

The template inserted, "Spanish Royalty/House of Bourbon", is totally irrelevant to the article — and in contradiction with it, as it provides only the rival or liberal branch, and that with mistakes. I suggest it should be removed.--Chanza 23:21, 13 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Some months ago I suggested dividing that template - and now I have done so (since there was no opposition expressed). The template now splits at Isabella II, so the charge that it "provides only the rival or liberal branch" is no longer valid. There may, however, be other issues with the template. Neutrality

edit

There are a number of times when the article expresses claims which cannot be known unless we could read Carlos' mind:

  • "But Carlos who was heir presumptive to his brother refused to renounce his rights to the throne, which he considered to have been given to him by God."
  • "He had no personal desire for the throne, but he was adamant that he could not renounce what he considered to be his God-given rights and responsibilities."

We can certainly report that Carlos expressed these ideas, but saying "he had no personal desire for the throne" goes a bit far. --Saforrest (talk) 23:55, 1 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Which government ?

edit

"When the Miguelite party was finally beaten in Portugal in 1834, Carlos escaped to England where the government offered to grant him an annual pension of 30,000 pounds if he would renounce his claims and never return to Spain or Portugal. "

Which government offered him this pension ? The British government or the Spanish Government ?Eregli bob (talk) 06:45, 19 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

His brother

edit

"Ferdinand VII had found it necessary to cooperate with the moderate liberals and to sign a Constitution." This is clearly in openly contradiction because Ferdinand VII was until his death an absolutist monarch, who persecuted any liberal ideas. He was only forced by Rafael Riego's rebellion to reconfirm the Constitution during the liberal triennium.

Infante Carlos María Isidro of SpainInfante Carlos, Count of Molina – The page was moved from this title without discussion. Per Wikipedia:Naming conventions (royalty and nobility), royals who held substantive titles should have them listed in their article titles. 2601:241:300:B610:0:0:0:5794 (talk) 05:19, 24 April 2022 (UTC) — Relisting. Megan B.... Afaik "count of Molina" wasn't his actual title, but an incognito title, which he used to not reveal his real identity.Marcelus (talk) 23:12, 28 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
