Requesting details on or about the "Army Base" edit

Is there any details, or does anyone know what the army base in Indooroopilly is used for? Is it actually an army base? It's located on Railway Ave right near the pedestrian path. If there is information I feel it'd be relevant to the article or perhaps another article. Often I've wondered about it. Thanks, 203.214.125.122 (talk) 19:05, 26 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Witton Barracks were acquired during the second world war. It has been used for several things, including an interegation centre, a watch-house for military prisoners, and home to various regiments (eg the University of Queensland used it).
Witton creek has its mouth on the other side of walter taylor bridge, it flows SE from mt cootha.
Googling 'witton barracks' brings up useful references, like http://home.st.net.au/~dunn/ozatwar/tighnabruaich.htm

Any info on the Walter Taylor Bridge ? edit

There is also a great art-deco gothic church built about the same time by the same architect and in the same cream paint in Graceville. Photos would be great. --Biatch 04:32, 28 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hmm, I got married at this church - should have some pics without me in it. apparently it was Brisbane's first pre-fab building - the concrete was formed and then trucked in to get assembled. it recently underwent some refurbishments. I know someone who know's the minister, I'll see what else I can find, but perhaps this should go under the Graceville, Queensland page? Whitehatnetizen 03:40, 17 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Incorrect placemark on Google Earth edit

There is a land mark on "Google Earth" for Indooroopilly, Queensland at (27°29'49.28"S 153°03'58.02"E) that should be at (27°30'07.86"S 152°58'27.42"E) (only about5 or 8 km too far east) and this is the only place I can find to make a comment and as I can't change I hope someone can now that Ive noticed it.The wikipeia story seems ok though but nothing related to what I started out to look for Cheers (non-Von)DutchDutchinspace 11:08, 26 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Are you referring to the map links on this article? If so they are correct already when I access the GoogleMaps, MSNMaps, Wikimapia and other links. How are you accessing the incorrect coordinates? Also, what did you start out looking for? (we can always look to improve it). Rimmeraj 04:13, 29 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

It appears that this is discussing the location of Indooroopilly in Google Earth, which does not corresponde to the location used in this article. Rimmeraj 22:42, 19 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
