Talk:Indigenous architecture in United States and Canada

Peer Review edit

Lead Section -

Biggest notes that I have for this section are 1) while the section is concise and descriptive, I think it may be even a little bit too short for the brevity of the article. The remainder of the article goes into more detail about specific differing types of architecture present among various regions of indigenous peoples, and you don't really introduce this information at all in the existing lead section. 2) Work on your neutrality and objectivity in the way that you introduce your topic - it's coming across with an undertone of argument (i.e., it's sounding from the reader's perspective that you're making the case that Indigenous peoples' culture has been/is being erased, which isn't entirely relevant to your article).

Content -

You have a decent amount of content regarding the physical architecture of North American Indigenous groups. However, it would be relevant to include more of the cultural aspects of the architecture that you're describing. You have the 'what' of the architecture - the form of it and the physicality. What you're still missing is the 'why' - the function/purpose of the different aspects of the architectural structures that you describe.

Tone and Balance -

For the most part, your contributions are very neutral. As I said in the 'lead section' portion of my Peer Review, however, there are some portions of the piece that have an undertone of bias. I see this primarily in the lead section as well as in the second sentence of the section headlined "Architecture of Indigenous People on the Great Plains"

Images and Media -

Just based on the topic of your article, it may be a good idea to embed some pictures. It would really help visualize the aspects of indigenous architecture that you're referring to in your article.

Everything else is looking pretty good from what I can tell! Rosenam2 (talk) 22:39, 9 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Seconded the request for pictures! it's a very good article but it could really do with some visual support. 0albannabla0 (talk) 03:10, 26 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
There are some pictures in Indigenous architecture. Викидим (talk) 22:33, 8 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Subject edit

@Mcgovekc: The title of the article implies that the vernacular architecture should also be included. However, the article almost exclusively covers the contemporary architecture influence by or produced by indigenous people. Was this the intent? If yes, can the change of the title to "Contemporary ..." be warranted? Викидим (talk) 17:46, 7 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Geography edit

The article focuses on the US architecture with some Canadian sprinkled in. I have changed the title accordingly. Викидим (talk) 22:29, 8 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Canadian architecture duplicated edit

The Canadian indigenous architecture is well-covered in Indigenous architecture#Canada. The text from there should be brought here IMHO. ALternatively, one can excise the sparse Canadian content from here and rename this article, omitting Canada altogether. Викидим (talk) 22:32, 8 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
