Campus description edit

This article seems more like an advertisement than an encyclopedia entry.

"With the unplundered lap of nature coupled with world class management education and latest technology at their disposal, students are sure going to make a beeline for the first IIM of the 21st Century." - Where is the proof for this?

"The lush green campus of IIM S covered with pine trees, where the 'sound of silence' prevails. Within the heart of Shillong City, the IIM S campus brings an healthy, extremely environment friendly surroundings, where mental concentration is spontaneous." - Very un-encyclopedic language. Sounds like directly lifted from the website of IIM Shillong.

Looks like that part of it is a paraphrase from their site, but the paragraph after was copied and pasted directly from the site. I'm deleting the whole section; there isn't much that can be recovered. If someone wants to write a neutral description without breaking copyright laws, that could be included in its place. Addmissions edit

the following sentence needs to be reworded - IIM Shillong, like the other IIMs will not have any admission reservations for students from Meghalaya or North East India. The reservation policy is not just for Meghalaya/NE but state based reservations. - abhi (talk) 07:58, 18 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

The entire edits by Aditya1288 were one big copyvio and promotion. I reverted them all.--Muhandes (talk) 10:10, 18 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Rajiv Gandhi Indian Institute of Management ShillongIndian Institute of Management Shillong – The new IIM bill came into effect in India in January, 2018. One major change due to the bill is that all the old governing bodies of IIMs in India have been dissolved and a Board of Governors is formed. This has led to all the IIMs being named just as IIM city_name. The same name can be cited on the college website here as well: http://www.iimshillong.ac.in GStriker94 (talk) 07:21, 28 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

  • Support. The arguments provided by the nominator are quite irrelevant. Per WP:COMMONNAME, the bill, its activation, the dissolving of the BoG and the renaming of the institute are all relevant only to the official name. The official website also serves little purpose in determining what the article title should be. However, a comparison of searches for recent news articles: Rajiv Gandhi Indian Institute of Management Shillong and Indian Institute of Management Shillong is quite convincing in showing that the title "Indian Institute of Management Shillong" is now more commonly used by reliable third-party sources. oops, I was the one who erroneously did the opposite move   Self-trout. --Muhandes (talk) 13:22, 31 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • All of the hits for the first search are included in the results for the second search. When these are excluded, the numbers are roughly equal. Not opposing this request, however. Dekimasuよ! 08:37, 4 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
