Rivalries

Where are we getting this official rivalry stuff? I've never heard of the Rivers-St. Paul's rivalry in my life. Anyone have any ideas? Mjl0509 12:21, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

...The Big Ten has "official rivalries;" it would truly surprise me if the ISL did too. Traditional rivalries, yes, but "official?" I've never heard of a St. Paul's-Rivers rivalry either. The others seem correct. Groton-St.Mark's (traditional) Milton-Nobles (traditional) Middlesex-St.George's (traditional) Brooks-Lawrence (similar schools, but is this a rivalry? I thought Lawrence-Groton, Brooks-GDA) Thayer-St. Sebs (similar-day schools) BB&N-Roxbury Latin (similar-day schools)... maybe St. Paul's and Rivers were the 'odd men out,' so to speak, and whoever composed the list just decided to throw them together. Need a reference for the following statement: "The Independent School League is the oldest Independent School athletic association in the United States."

The rivalries as they stand right now are correct. The only truly traditional ones are Middlesex-St. George's, Milton-Nobles, and Groton-St. Mark's, but the Bel Hill- R-L and St. Seb's- Bel Hill rivalries are well established as well.

History, charter members

In the first paragraph under History, Middlesex is listed as a charter member, while Tabor is not. Given the statement in the next graph that Middlesex joined in 1968 and that Groton replaced Tabor in 1972, it seems Tabor should replace Middlesex in the list of charter members. Tabor's website lists eight schools (itself and seven others) as founding members of the ISL. The Wikipedia article lists nine, excluding Tabor and including two (Middlesex and Thayer) that the Tabor list doesn't include. This link corroborates the Tabor list: https://www.islsports.org/page/3042 So in addition to adding Tabor and cutting Middlesex, it seems Thayer should be cut.
