After watching this discussion page i tried to file tax returns through edeskonline, really it is very easy to prepare tax filing in edeskonline. I heard my colleagues go to the CA for 20 times. But I had entered my bank statements & other entries the tax computation is done automatically. Unless you are a company registered with an SEZ or an STP unit in India, you do not get any exemption on export income. Deepakshenoy 04:22, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

Various controversies like age old cases of Mcdowell and Azaadi bachao andolan; and very recent case of vodafone (This case is not yet decided by is being closely followed by international media too). Some information about Direct taxes code which the parliament of india is proposing to issue. A list of income tax returns etc which are available on the official website of income tax department. Required : A history section

This article requires a section on the history of income taxes, how the rates have changed/ whether pre independence or pre british , we had such taxes.

Agree with you, but given the yearly change in rates it may become a cumbersome statistic. Also this information will not be easily available, but if you have this information it would be a wonderful piece to share. Please do not include the Indian Income Tax Department in details in this article as there is already a well defined wiki article on it. Also Income Tax in India and department are two different entities like National Highway (India) does not go in to details of Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (India) or Indian Army does not go in to details of Ministry of Defence (India). --Sandyiit (talk) 11:51, 11 February 2012 (UTC)

The INR values quotes on this page need converting to USD in an historic way, e.g. income tax in 1997-8, for the purpose of comparison and ease of reading. Mistake in the current income tax rates

Personal income rates are not exactly correct. For example, an individual earning between 2.5 lakh to 5 lakh has to give a tax of 5% of (total income after deducting 2.5 lakhs not a flat 5%. Somebody with time and expertise can correct it.
