In the High Castle?

I've read the Duchess of Albany fled King James I to Balloch Castle, on Loch Lomond. Is it on Inchmurrin, or elsewhere? Trekphiler 18:57, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

Clan crusader?

I deleted this

"(?reference to death of chief in 1439 in a battle with the MacLeans of Duart.)"

In addition to the quoted source:

[1] has it that "Sir John Colquhoun of Luss was killed here in 1439 during a raid led by Lachlan MacLean."

[2] has "John Colquhoun: Death: 24 SEP 1439 in Inchmurren, Dumbarton, Scotland (murdered)"

[3] that "by 1439 he (Iain Colquhoun of Luss) was dead, like his King, killed by those he had treated so badly."

To me it seems that the 1417 event is less well supported. I'm sure that over the centuries other Colquhouns died at the hands of MacLeans! Primary sources will be lacking. Comments welcome. Finavon (talk) 22:49, 25 September 2008 (UTC)

Well, when it's included as "(?reference)", it's unclear to me if it's substantiated, unattested, unclear, or something else. I'm a touch leery of web sources, but if you count 'em solid sources to ref the death of a chief as described, go ahead & put it back. TREKphiler ^{hit me ♠} 01:55, 26 September 2008 (UTC)

Web Refs are not the most reliable, but several seem to support this. I welcome the input of any historians with something more robust! Finavon (talk) 08:44, 26 September 2008 (UTC)

Having read through Worsley, I'd say that his book is not entirely reliable either, but I've been wanting to expand the Lomond Islands articles for a while, and a middling reference is better than no reference, and can lead one onto a better one.--MacRusgail (talk) 18:33, 27 September 2008 (UTC)
