Talk:Inanimate Carbon Rod

Latest comment: 17 years ago by AntonB in topic Another carbon rod appearance

A few things to clear up this article.

Homer, however, broke the handle, but he solved the problem by jamming it shut with an inanimate carbon rod. - Your missing one key point, Homer only solved the problem after a failed attempt to bash Race with the rod. As a result, on the back swing the rod jammed the door shut.

Buzz: Homer, you broke the handle.

Race: With that hatch open, we'll burn up on re-entry! That's it: if I go, I'm taking you to hell with me.

Homer: Wait a minute, Race. Wait a minute...wait! [breaks off a support rod] Aha! Now I'll bust that pretty face of yours! [tries to swing it, but it catches in the door] Aw, stupid bar.

Buzz: Wait, Homer. If that bar holds, we just might make it back to earth.

Homer: Oh. [voice rising] I'll bash you good!

Maybe the rod was painted green? edit

The article says that elemental carbon is usually black. Maybe the rod was simply painted green? --Blue387 03:16, 17 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

good point. i'll remove that line. the funny thing is that all these years i've been bewildered by the fact that it was green, and paint never crossed my mind. i feel stupid.

Control? edit

In "Deep Space Homer", the Carbon Rod is from a suport structure. There are really two carbon rods in the series. Maybe the Space Rod should be related to the Control Rod. Should the page be edited to include that?

corndog comment edit

I am not sure if this comment is vandalism. I seem to remember hearing somewhere that there is one of those little semi-religions (no offence to anyone, simply using the word so everyone understands) that the carbon rod is a diety... can anyone verify this? any religion that replaced their corndog god for our rod? - Adolphus79 01:39, 20 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Amazon link edit

Should there really be a link to amazon.com for the guide to springfield. could be misconstrued as advertising, and amazon isnt the only place to get books, and of course to readers outside the USA is no use anyway. can anyone change it to an ISBN number or similar?

Mostly true. I buy from Amazon despite living in Australia. -- Ianiceboy 04:46, 19 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Another carbon rod appearance edit

An incarnation of the carbon rod also appeared in one of the old Simpsons episodes I remember watching a realy long time ago. It looks similar to the rod that falls onto Homer's shirt in the opening sequence. Bart can't find new batteries for the TV remote, instead he happens to discover the glowing green carbon rod which he then inserts into the remote. When Bart attempts to operate the remote, him and Lisa get sucked into the TV, into an Itchy and Scratchy cartoon. Like I said, I saw this episode of the Simpsons a very long time ago and I only remember it vaguely; can anybody verify this, and if so, which season did the episode appear in? That was a Treehouse of Horror episode. And it wasn't a carbon rod. It was plutonium. Mustang6172 23:05, 3 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
