Boeing/Embraer deal collapse

Has the collapse of the Boeing/Embraer joint venture been directly attributed to coronavirus by reputable published sources? I question whether discussion of this topic belongs here at all. Boeing is claiming that they're unrelated; whether that's true is debatable in my opinion, but my (our) personal views are irrelevant, because WP:SOAPBOX. Bloomberg [1] comes close, in that it clearly mentions the pandemic in relation to the current aviation market, though it stops short of attributing the cancellation of the JV to it directly. Rosbif73 (talk) 17:05, 27 April 2020 (UTC)

There is a dedicated article on the controversy? While the JV collapse maybe indirectly related, it is still related, even indirectly as you imply, and thus is relevant here. Hiding that would be a soapbox for the Boeing POV after all.--Marc Lacoste (talk) 20:01, 27 April 2020 (UTC)

Brevity got the better of me, there's not an article dedicated to the controversy, but the joint venture is discussed at Boeing–Embraer joint venture. I think the current blurb in this article is an appropriate inclusion of Embraer's statement under WP:NPOV; I got a bit too aggressive with my earlier trim. Airport inclusion guidelines

Many small to mid-size commercial airports have had almost all flights canceled, and individually listing them could quickly overwhelm the Airport section. I suggest the following inclusion guidelines for airport impacts:

• The airport is in the top 30 worldwide for total passenger traffic or aircraft movements.
• The airport is the primary international gateway to a particular country and/or the only commercial airport serving an island with substantial population.
• The airport is officially closed to commercial passenger traffic and/or all passenger flights are canceled indefinitely.

I propose these only as general guidelines; individual exceptions meeting WP:GNG could be included. Carguychris (talk) 14:57, 9 June 2020 (UTC)

I've removed the entry about Delta discontinuing service the Bishop International Airport because the airport is relatively minor and is still served by other airlines. Adding an entry for every instance that an airline has cut service to an airport with <20 daily flights would quickly devolve into WP:TMI and drown this article in trivial information. Size and possible split

Right now the page is 113k long, a little above the 100k max guideline, and maybe it could be WP:SPLIT, most obviously the longest #airlines section.--Marc Lacoste (talk) 05:01, 12 June 2020 (UTC)

Agreed, the Airline section is threatening to overwhelm the article, and I can't think of a clear-cut and fair way to exclude particular airlines or shorten their entries. Carguychris (talk) 15:10, 12 June 2020 (UTC)

Article preview image

FYI: this change was made mostly to fix the article preview image which was previously the molecular model of the covid virus and now shows the cabin disinfection photo (hover over Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on aviation to test). The latter image seems much more representative of this topic. Unfortunately, I don't know any other way to implement this change except changing the order of the MOS:LEADELEMENTS. --N8_wilson 🔔 22:52, 1 July 2022 (UTC)
