Science fiction banner edit

Is this opera really to do with science fiction? Buonafede is simply duped into believing he is on the moon. No one travels in time or space, even in a farcical sense (such as in Offenbach Voyage dans la lune). Cg2p0B0u8m (talk) 19:02, 19 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

I added the banner as part of a job lot. (I was bannering everything in Category:Science fiction operas and did not consider them individually as I took the categorisation in good faith.)
I notice that this opera gets a mention at [1]. The Encyclopedia of Science Fiction is the SF equivalent of Grove and therefore the inclusion there should be taken seriously.--Peter cohen (talk) 19:42, 19 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
I suppose there is a risk that the author of the entry I link in the SFE was unaware that this opera is a satire but a parallel case would be the mention of Northanger Abbey in the article on Gothic Fiction in the companion Encyclopedia of Fantasy. If you do want to de-banner this page, then I won't object further, but I think it should be linked to the inclusion of the category in the article.--Peter cohen (talk) 12:51, 20 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
I wonder whether the author of the Encyclopedia of Science Fiction has actually heard the piece rather than just look at the title? I think it is misleading to categorise this piece as a science fiction. Others can decide whether to remove banners or categories, but I think science fiction fans will be disappointed... It should also be removed from this page Science-fiction opera Cg2p0B0u8m (talk) 22:22, 21 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
