I want to be clear about the origion of this article. Someone complained in the refrence desk that there was no article on Ida Red Apples. So... I took the text and pictures from the dutch wikipeida, and ran them through babel fish, and then correctd the english. If this artcile is wrong, which it probibly more certainally is, then please feel free to correct it. The article says that this apple was bred in 1935, yet the New York Apple Association claims that this was first raised in 1791... [3] Is this a case of transposed numerics, am I misinterpreting things, or is the article flat-out wrong? RFerreira 05:52, 11 October 2006 (UTC)

The New York Apple Association says on this page:

[AtoZ Apples] "Developed in Idaho in 1942, while this page: [IdaRed ] "Developed in Idaho, it's a cross between two old time NY apples, Jonathan and Wagener, first raised in Penn Yan in 1791." But: [[4]] Says: "Ida Red Apples were developed at the Idaho Experiment Station in Moscow, Started in 1892, Idaho from a cross between Jonathan and Wagener. Released in 1942 by Leif Verner." [[5]] says that the Wagener apple is from New york in the 1790s. Penn Yan was founded in 1791.

A vast ( 100s ) majority of web resources list the origion as "Released in 1942 by Leif Verner"

It looks like the article is wrong. And it does not give a reference. I'd say it should be changed. And, I would like to make some sort of entry for the song "Ida Red", which was recorded twice by Bob Wills, once in 1938, then again in 1947. It is supposed to have been the prototype for Chuck Berry's Maybellene Steve Pastor 19:10, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
