Explanation needed

edit

We have never seen such a format before. The regular format for this kind of play-off bracket would have been A1 and B1 straight to the semis, A2, B2, A3 and B3 to quarters. There needs to be a clear explanation why Group A was deemed a 'seeds' group or whatever the correct term is. At least the first paragraph from here should be copied (if not more): http://sochi2014.iihf.com/women/information .

Gold medal game not being the last game shown

Can this be remedied? –HTD 22:24, 20 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

The IOC has given instructions for DQ, but there has been no modifications to official IIHF records. Documenting the team as DQ'd is well sourced, but game scores, scoring details, etc. are not modified (yet). Other disqualified entrants still had members remain in the scoring tables, recently here with GB. However if the removal is about the actual suspended athlete who lost their CAS case that would be worth discussing.18abruce (talk) 16:15, 24 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

To follow up, the official (online) records were never amended to show any disqualification, nor were the rankings. Would be valuable to see what the updated Media Guide and Record book says.18abruce (talk) 16:46, 6 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
IIHF finally got around to disqualifying Russia in November of 2019.76.75.122.66 (talk) 14:30, 8 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
