edit

Hello, fellow editors of this article. As it seemed to me too cumbersome in terms of repetitions, irrelevant material (Like about his marks at school...) and some missing information, I have shortened and included stylistic changes, some new information, links and references and checked most of the sources. (Even in the archived version, the two references to the Prince Claus Award seem to be dead, but I could not find another direct source from this organization.) This was quite a lot of work, for example because the explanation of the Hurufiyya movement appeared more than three times. - I write this in order to let fellow editors know that obviously, they should first check the entire article, before adding content that might already be there. (And I am not referring to the lead, which I also enlarged, and where important information may be given that will be expanded later on.) Generally, I was not totally satisfied by the partly cumbersome style, tedious repetitions and some art historical qualifications like "to achieve a balance between pure expression and gestural freedom", which in my view are too vague for encyclopedic purposes. After all, El-Salahi is one of the most highly recognized African artists, and readers deserve a concise article, according to wp guidelines. Munfarid1 (talk) 12:52, 1 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

In December 2022, I have again re-edited and updated this article. I would appreciate any comments on style, length and elements of this article in order to get some feedback from other editors interested in African artists. For example: Do we need a list of major exhibitions, as there is in the French version? Thanks, Munfarid1 (talk) 16:28, 8 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
